Never doubt the difference you can make to someone’s life.
I am involved in a number of projects nationally and I love having new challenges and opportunities.
I have over 20 years of experience of living with Birth Trauma, perinatal PTSD and personal recovery. I also have experience of caring for, and offering support to women and their families after birth trauma both in the postnatal period but also in the antenatal period in subsequent pregnancies and births. I have helped develop pathways and policies for the NHS, Institute of Health Visiting and other organisations. I also set up a local NHS Birth Trauma and Baby-loss service.
As a lived experience consultant I can support you to understand birth trauma, its impact of families and also maternity staff. I can help with pathways, setting up of services to care for women after birth trauma that is trauma informed and holistic. I also can help share the voices of others who have been touched by birth trauma to help facilitate change in maternity and perinatal mental health services.
Are you are looking for someone with lived experience of birth trauma, PTSD or having a baby in neonatal? Someone to be your conference speaker, to help raise awareness or help educate your audience?
Are you seeking ideas on ways to improve maternity or perinatal mental health services?
Would you like a guest post about issues relating to birth trauma, premature birth, perinatal mental health, or maternity care?
A lived experience perspective?
I’m always happy to comment and look over new pathways, policies or toolkits that affect families and the care they receive in maternity or perinatal health services. Working in the NHS supporting families after birth trauma but also having lived experience, gives me a unique insight into the challenges of both those who need care, but also those in place to care for them.
I believe hearing the voices of all is important to improving the support we give to families. I am happy to support engagement and co-production with those who have experienced birth trauma.
Change Agent
I believe change is possible, and no matter who you are you can be that small link that drives innovation and change.
I graduated from the NHS improving quality, ‘School of healthcare radicals‘ as a Change Agent and strive to make a difference to services both nationally and locally. I run various campaigns during the year and if you have a campaign you feel I could bring value to please get in touch.
Workshops
I have experience with the organisation of study days, workshops, training and conferences.
If you would like help with a workshop you are organising, or would like me to attend to share my own personal story, how birth trauma affects families, why support matters, and how I have recovered, please contact me.
Why should you think about working with me?
I am passionate and dedicated to making a difference to the lives of others.
For many years I suffered and struggled to find the help and support I needed. I never want this to be the case for others. This desire to see change happen, to make sure all families have equal access to the support they need, that services that care for families during pregnancy and birth show compassion and kindness, means I give my all to projects.
My journey has been tough, but I realised that my voice, my experience could be used for good and could make a difference to others.
If like me you believe that together we are stronger, that we can all make a difference, that every small act means the making of big changes to the lives of families, then please get in touch. I love to hear new ideas.
